Hey everyone, I wanted to pass on a message.
My reasons for starting Quest for Bids were to give a place some sellers could go after one particular site closed with virtually no notice. This had happened many times to many of us, often with no concern for the effect of the site's closure. I worked with a couple other site owners who also were winding down their sites to help more members move over until we had a nice little auction site rolling along. I wanted to be sure there was at least one old school free auction site left for those who want it, and I look forward to providing that for many more years.
This has been a whirlwind year personally. September 2017 my wife suffered a miscarriage with her first pregnancy. After about 6 months and quite a bit of R&R to move on from what happened, we learned she was pregnant again. My whole year has been spent obsessing over making sure she is completely well every day and supporting her because I honestly could not bear the thought of her living through that again. Now, with just a couple weeks until the due date, I have been facing some realities. One of those is that I will no longer be able to devote a lot of time online to this site, especially since she will no longer be working. Fortunately it is pretty inexpensive to run, less than $30/month, so that won't become a problem.
Quest for Bids is and will be a joy to provide, however I will not be able to offer support for the updates as I had in the past for a while longer.
The site is functional and works as it should, with a couple exceptions. I hope to be performing an upgrade to the latest version of the script after Christmas to keep the site running smoothly for the future. That will be the last update to the site for some time though. I have automated much of the site now, including site cloud backups, so there are no worries about accidents happening to the site.
Quest for bids has always been and will be a free, member driven site. While member activity is lower than the beginning, those who are have been very active. I hope it continues to meet your expectations in the future.
Thanks for being a part of the site, and keep plugging along!
Duane
