I am asking for all member's input, good or bad, or even ugly, about Quest for Bids.
The last 2 1/2 years have been great. I have become friends with many of you and helped many of you and had fun and frustration building the site, but it has all been worth it.
The site has been and will continue to be a free place to list your items for sale, however over the last few years I have realized that it is nearly impossible to get new sellers to join the site, and even more difficult if that is possible to attract non-seller members with the methods that worked so well in the past with other sites.
I was hoping the day of the small auction/marketplace site could be revived with many of us who were around a decade ago in the days of sites like Plunderhere, YHB, Wagglepop, Tazbar, and others that we all really tried to help grow. A few sites using this script have come and gone since it was released in 2014, sites like vangoe.com and American Bidder. I guess I should have seen it then, but most online sellers and shoppers prefer a one stop shop for their items like eBay, Etsy, Amazon, etc. I have even emailed sellers I knew from those sites, and while I got a great email reunion, I got "no thanks" from nearly all of them.
I have quite a few modules I have been too busy to install, and also I don't want to make changes to a script I'm not familiar with in November/December in case I have to restore it to a backup. Some of them are customizing stores, home page statistics, user avatars, and more stats on items in the member's area.
So, my question for feedback is this, please copy and paste your answers in response:
How would you like to see Quest for Bids continue in 2018?
1. Under a different name, same site with the mods added
2. Same as it is with the mods added
Also what is more important to you for the site to have:
1. Features needed to get insight and/or manage your store
2. Marketing options for you to use to get more customers
3. Other (leave comment)
What is one thing you think would help bring new sellers into the site to offer more variety of items for sale?
1. Ebay listing import capability
2. Referral contests
3. Specific features (please list)
Thanks, and here's to 2018!
